The surface is not household carpet, which matters. Guardian Comfort uses a proprietary DriGard material and Guardian Impact adds an ImpactCore layer. Both are closed-cell, so they do not soak up water the way carpet does. Water drains through and the liner dries, and the material is mold and mildew resistant, which is why these hold up under a tonneau cover that is not fully watertight.

Guardian Comfort is the softer, quieter surface. Guardian Impact is built to take heavier abuse. Both drop in without drilling and both come back out.

No, and that is the point. It has a carpet-like texture, but Guardian Comfort uses a proprietary closed-cell DriGard material and Guardian Impact adds an ImpactCore layer. Because the material is closed-cell it does not absorb water the way household carpet would. Water drains through, the liner dries, and it resists mold and mildew.
Is Husky Guardian the same as BedRug?
Yes. Guardian Comfort was previously sold as BedRug Classic and Guardian Impact was previously BedRug Impact. RealTruck consolidated the line under the Husky Liners brand, alongside their other protection products. The manufacturer's position is that the badge changed and the product did not: same materials, same team, same performance.
Will a carpet liner hold water or smell?
Not in normal use. The material is closed-cell and mold and mildew resistant, so water drains through rather than soaking in. People run these under tonneau covers that are not fully watertight without trouble. If the bed gets soaked, cracking the cover for airflow speeds up drying.
Carpet liner or drop-in plastic liner?
Buy carpet if you want the bed quiet, finished looking, and grippy for gear that would otherwise slide. Buy rigid plastic if you throw block, scrap, or sharp tools in and want maximum impact resistance. Carpet handles normal loads fine, but plastic is what you want under genuine abuse.
Can I still haul dirty loads with a carpet liner?
