PowerStep Vision is the AMP Research Smart Series running board that builds full-length LED lighting into a power-retracting step. Open a door and the boards swing down and out from the rocker panel, lit end to end. Close the door and they tuck back up, with the lighting dimming into a color-customizable accent mode. The boards give passengers a full-length, lit step instead of a reach up to the cab.
Construction follows the rest of the PowerStep family. The steps and hinges are anodized cast aluminum, and the hinge pins are corrosion-resistant stainless steel. Both step surfaces carry a military-grade PTFE coating that guards against corrosion and wear over the long haul. AMP Research lists the step finish as textured black powder coat. The tread runs the full length of the cab, measures 6 inches wide, and uses a non-slip surface. On most applications the board drops more than a foot below the door sill plate.
The step is a single-motor retracting design that mounts to the rocker panel, and it carries a 600 lb load capacity. AMP Research backs it with a 5 year limited warranty.

How It Works
The Plug-n-Play control module ties into the factory electrical system through the OBDII connection. Open a door and the single motor drives the board down and out from the rocker panel. Shut the doors and it retracts back against the body. On supported applications that connection is a Plug-n-Play harness and module, so the boards read the factory electrical system with minimal cutting, splicing, or modification.
The lighting runs on the same cycle. With the step deployed, the full-length LED Glow Light runs at full output alongside the classic AMP Research LED courtesy lights, so the tread and the ground next to the truck are both covered. When the step retracts, the LEDs dim and shift into accent mode, and the color is customizable. Full output while the boards are down, dimmed accent light while they are up.
Step geometry does as much work here as the motor. The tread surface is non-slip, and the drop of more than a foot below the door sill plate on most applications puts the first step within easy reach. The step surface runs the length of the cab rather than covering only part of it.
The Smart Series app handles the rest. Lighting colors and functions are adjustable from an iOS or Android phone, and the same app can command the boards to deploy or retract on demand when you want the step out with the doors closed.

PowerStep Vision is a bolt-on install. Every kit ships with vehicle-specific mounting brackets that fasten to the rocker panel, the hardware to mount them, and a vehicle-specific instruction guide. On supported applications the kit also includes a Plug-n-Play wiring harness and module, which lets the boards integrate with the factory electrical system with minimal cutting, splicing, or modification.
