Rock Sliders

Rock sliders that protect first and step second

A rock slider is a side step built to take an impact. Where a nerf bar or running board is designed to hold your weight, a slider is designed to hold the truck's weight when the rocker panel comes down on a rock, a ledge, or a curb. That changes how it is built and how it is mounted.

The tube is heavier, the mounting is stouter, and the geometry is set so the slider takes the hit instead of the sheet metal behind it. You still get a stepping surface, but it is narrower than a running board because protection drives the design.

Go Rhino builds two lines here. The Dominator D1 is the core slider. The Dominator Xtreme DT adds to the platform. Both are steel, both bolt on without drilling on listed applications, and both are worth the money if you actually take the truck off pavement.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a rock slider and a nerf bar?
A nerf bar is built to hold your weight as a step. A rock slider is built to hold the truck's weight when the rocker panel lands on a rock or a curb. The slider uses heavier tube and stouter mounting, and it protects the body panel behind it. A nerf bar will bend under an impact that a slider shrugs off.
Can I use rock sliders as an everyday step?
Yes. The stepping area is narrower than a running board because protection drives the shape, but people daily drive these without complaint. If stepping comfort is the only goal and you never leave pavement, a board or nerf bar is the better value.
Do rock sliders bolt on or do they need welding?
The Go Rhino Dominator sliders bolt on with vehicle specific brackets and no drilling on listed applications. Some heavy competition style sliders on the market are weld on, but these are not.
Will rock sliders fit my truck?
Slider kits are cut for one application, and cab and bed configuration can change the part number. Send your year, make, model, cab, and bed length and we will confirm the right kit before you order.
